We’ve got some news about the annual Roots Picnic.
Lil Wayne canceled his performance at the last minute. He was originally slated to perform as one of many headliners for the event.
Fans were told by organizers (via posters) that Lil Wayne felt ill, and had to back out of the lineup.
The posters read as follows, “Due to unfortunate medical reasons that occurred yesterday, Wayne will not be performing at the Roots Picnic. His management has said he is at home resting and feeling better, however due to doctors orders he cannot travel today.”
Of course, the show went on without Weezy. The roster was quite diverse, and didn’t rely too heavily on any one act. PNB Rock, No Name, 21 Savage, Jeezy, Thundercat, Playboi Carti with Solange and Pharrell were all on deck.
According to showgoers on Twitter, Pharrell had an amazing set. He’s been known to pack a punch live, as evidenced by his now-infamous performance at the 2014 NBA All-Star Game.
This time around, he did it without Tyler The Creator, Pusha T, and N.O.R.E., but killed it nonetheless.
