Killer Mike Has Reaction To Bill Maher’s N-Word Controversy

Killer Mike Has Reaction To Bill Maher’s N-Word Controversy — What Do You Think?

Bill Maher’s been dealing with a new controversy this week. He used the N-word on T.V., and has been facing criticism from every angle.

Chance The Rapper, among many others, has called for HBO to cancel Real Time and fire Maher.

Killer Mike spoke out on the situation. He’s a frequent guest on Maher’s show, Real Time (on HBO), but wasn’t there during the incident. He thinks black people have bigger fish to fry than going after Maher, and thinks the comedian’s just doing what he’s paid to do, which is cross hard lines and go for laughs. He’s gotten plenty of them with racially charged humor the past.

Mike believes Maher was, and should be, protected under the 1st Amendment. However, according to Mike, he’d have taken the situation seriously had he been present.

“I would’ve punched Bill in his stomach. I would’ve punched Bill in his stomach and said, ‘You sound stupid,’ and we would’ve smoked a joint after,” Mike said during an interview with TMZ. “You know why, because that’s what you do when your white friend does that when you’re 13 and he gets a little too comfortable and says it—you punch your friend in the stomach.”

He also spoke more about the protests Maher’s facing because of the controversy. “If people want to protest him, fine, I support it. If people want to call for his job, do what you want to do. As for me, though, I am not going to start to limit entertainers in what they can say, because when you start doing that, you’re painting yourself in a corner, and you’re going to make sure your First Amendment rights are one day going to be out the door, and we really are going to live in a fascist country.”
